Description: A new safe gathering space has emerged at St. Cuthbert's Anglican Church, where girls practice the power of positive thinking, one breath at a time. Mindfulness matters now more than ever! Our kids are digital natives and the added pressure of social media can make growing up even tougher. BreatheGirls is a safe inclusive space that is all about teaching girls the positive power of their own breath. Girls can be tough on themselves and each other and social media and peer pressure can also contribute to negative self-image. This unique "Happy Minds" program combines the practices of positive thinking, yoga and meditation to help build healthy minds and bodies. "Girls Talk" is also a chance to share and learn techniques to develop optimism, emotional resilience and empathy. Also part of the program is a quiet time to catch up on homework or just take a breather and refuel with a healthy snack. Mom & CBC National Reporter, Ioanna Roumeliotis says "As a mother of daughters, I want my girls, and girls everywhere, to grow up resilient, compassionate, optimistic and inspired by their own awesomeness. We all have to be the change we want to see in the world. And that starts with the confidence to shout it from the rooftops" and we couldn't agree more!
